There will be 2 categories according to competitors ages.
"The Samoan Fire Knife Competition" will held at outside.
The competition will stopped due to signs of bad weather.

Rule
OKINAWA SIVA AFI compettion. RULES AND CRITERIA
The Rules and Criterias below are outlined for the individuals invited to participate in the SIVA ‘AFI fire knife competition. It is our hope that this event will not only encourage the fire knife competitors to continue learning the art of the Samoan Nifo ‘oti but also to enhance their knowledge of the Samoan culture.
Rules & Regulations

Every and All competitors must have three (3) dancing knives to perform in the competition

One (1) single and two (2) double

Competitors should have extra knives as stand-bys.

All knives must be made with hard metal and wooden handle. The handle can either be
-
Hard metal is required to prevent accidents.
-
The length of the single knife must be no less than 37” the double knives must be no less than 35”. (The measurements begins from the top of the hook to the end of the handle).

All knives must have hooks large enough to hook together as part of the competition criteria.

Knife hooks must be free of all angles when hooked together to prevent injury to the performer of the spectators.

Borrowing knifes from other competitors during the competition will not allow. (This may be subject to disqualification of both party involved.

All competitors must adhere by these rules regarding knives.

Competitors may not use or request any special effect/ lighting other than the ones already provided by the event organizers.
Costumes
-
All competitors must wear a Samoan (or Polynesian) printed Lava-Lava.

Lava-Lava must be trimmed and cut modestly. Not too short
-
Competitors must wear Samoan necklace made of Shells, leaves (t-leaves, banana leaves ect.) is acceptable.

Facial war paint is a must.

BASIC MOVES REQUIRED

1st Round & Final Round
Senior diviton <1st Round>
SENIOR DIVISION-1ST ROUND
After check in on Saturday, November 28th, in the dressing room,
there will be a drawing held to pull names in deciding the order you will perform. The 1st round will start at 19:00.
All competitors will be announced on stage at beginning of competition.
When the introductions are over, the first competitor will begin his/her performance.
Please keep your routine to 7 minutes, including entrance and exit. (Points will be deducted if you exceed time limit.)
*Due to unforeseen circumstances, there could be breaks due to management, judges, or musicians.
After the last performance, all competitors will gather on stage and the competitors for the final round will be announced.
*(3-5 finalists, depending on number of entries.)
Junior Division <Final Round>
JUNIOR DIVISION-Final Round Only
After check in on Saturday, November 29th, there will be a drawing held, in the dressing room, to pull names in deciding the order you will perform. Junior division will start after Senior division ends. (For junior division, there will only be a final round.)
All competitors will be announced on stage at beginning of competition.
When the introductions are over, the first competitor will begin his/her performance.
Please keep your routine to 7 minutes, including entrance and exit. (Points will be deducted if you exceed time limit.)
*Due to unforeseen circumstances, there could be breaks due to management, judges, or musicians.
After the last performance, all competitors will gather on stage and the winners will be announced.
Senior Division <Final Round>
SENIOR DIVISION-FINAL ROUND
After check in on Sunday, November 29th, the final round will be held during the Polynesian Fete. (Scheduled to be at 19:00.)
Competitors will gather on stage to once again pull names to decide the order they will perform in. As soon as introductions and the drawing is over, the first person will perform.
*Final round will be no more then 8 minutes. Please include entrance and exit during this time.
(Points will be deducted if you exceed time limit.)
*Due to unforeseen circumstances, there could be breaks due to management, judges, or musicians.
A guest show will be scheduled after the performance of all competitors.
After the guest show, competitors will gather on stage for the last time, to announce the winners.
